Family Session Guide

WHAT TO EXPECT

If you’re reading this, chances are you’ve booked me to capture this amazingly special time in your lives. This is my jam, my bread and butter, my absolute passion.

Thank you for trusting me.

Let me start out by saying, first of all, that your shoot is going to be awesome. 99% of the time the first 10 minutes of any photoshoot can feel a little awkward until you and your family can relax into it and feel confident in front of the camera. I will help you guys do this! I'll always prompt and direct you.

We’ll cycle through a few different prompts, but there will be lots of room for you to express yourselves too.

I promise it will be fun and by the end of the session you'll be total pros in front of the camera. But my objective isn’t just to take pretty pictures – it’s to capture this exciting stage in your lives, exactly as it is now.

TIP: Take the Pressure Off

Telling your children how important the photos are, or how they need to smile or act a certain way, can cause stress on little ones. Set them up for success by making it as casual as possible, and just encourage them to be their (best) natural selves. I have some coloring packs to coax young kids who need a little encouragement, so try to leave the bribery up to me!

What to Wear

• Go simple for family’s wardrobe. When planning your outfits for the family & sibling shots, stick with soft, neutral colors like grey, cream or white as the dominant colors. This keeps the focus on baby and the family connection.
• Avoid neon colors and logos.
• For kids, I recommend a classic, timeless outfit. Steer clear of logos and shirts with writing.
• Please no shoes in the studio- you're welcome to wear clean white socks or be barefoot during your session.
